About Us

Welcome to Let's Connect Clothing. My name is Ava and I survived a brain tumor when I was just eight years old. I ended up getting meningitis and having 13 strokes during a tumor resection surgery, which left me physically and mentally disabled for the first time in my life. I lost the ability to walk, talk and eat - but I have fought hard with physical therapy to regain these skills. Nowdays, I use a walker, a wheelchair or a mobility scooter to get around.

One thing I never lost was my sense of humor and positive attitude. I also LOVE sarcasm and a witty tee shirt. As a teenager, I had some challenges connecting with my peers. But I found that on days that I wore a funny tee shirt, people tended to comment on it, crack a joke about it, or just yell out 'I love your shirt, Ava!" This would serve as an ice breaker and get a conversation rolling.

After graduating from the University of South Carolina's CarolinaLife program, I came up with the idea of launching a clothing business that would inspire people of all abilities to easily connect with each other. We all want to be heard and seen. My hope is that by wearing a Let's Connect product, someone will be inspired to hear and see you - and strike up a conversation!
